Holiday Wines pt. 1
With the holidays coming up, and there being shortages of international wine, beer, and spirits, there is no better time to support local. In this short, 2-part series, we will dive into some classic holiday wines here at Lakeview Wine Co., and some special treats to bring to impress the in-laws.
White Wine
White wine's do incredibly well around the holiday season. When everyone is fully on rich and fatty foods, nothing helps cleanse the palate quite like white wine. 3 incredible options for the holiday seasons, from the inexperienced drinker to the wine-savvy person in your life, we have a wine for everyone.
The EastDell Pinot Grigio is a true crowd pleaser. With light-notes of pear, apple, and citrus, this slightly off-dry white goes well with almost any food. Our Lakeview Cellars Barrell-Aged Chardonnay is a classic holiday wine, with bright fruity characteristics at the front, with subtle hints of vanilla, toasted oak, with a slightly creamy finish, this Chardonnay pairs beautiful with big holiday meals. Last but certainly not least is the Lakeview Cellars Kerner. Being one of the only Kerner wines on the market, this wine is a true specialty white from Niagara. Bright aromatics of citrus, orchard fruit, and apple are mirrored on the palate. The Kerner is a truly exceptional wine.
Red Wine
While white's are more traditional around the holidays for most, there are some fantastic options for red (and rosé) wine for those special occasions.
To start, our Serenity Pinot Noir Rosé is the perfect hybrid for those white or red lovers that want to mix it up. Bright aromatics of citrus and cranberry are followed by notes of strawberry and cherry on the palate. This rosé is a perfect addition to the holiday meals, and pairs amazingly with cranberry sauce and turkey. Our EastDell Gamay Noir is the perfect addition to the holiday table. Light in body with delicate acidity and tannins is the perfect red for turkey. Notes of juicy cranberry and subtle baking spice is the perfect addition to big feasts. Our Lakeview Cellars Grand Reserve Red is a bottle to impress. This big and bold blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, aged for 36 months in oak is a true show stopper. Drinking amazingly at this moment, but will further develop over the next decade. While a standard bottle is great, showing up with a double magnum (retail exclusive) will make all your friends and family envious.
